Tripod: Well, you worked for a good 6 months on your demo album. How do you think it turned out?

ILLigitt: Well I wouldn't really call it a demo album, I'm gonna pull a Sly Boogy and think of that as a mixtape. Yeah though, I was semi-pleased with it. I kind of slacked off up until the last month before it dropped, and plus I couldn't get my mic to work up until about February. Which even after that I slacked off, so eventually I was in a time-crunch. I would have pushed the release date back, but that would have taken away from the whole 4/20 effect, you know? It really probably was a stupid idea, and some of the songs were rushed ["Freestyle", "ILLigitt", "Vanilla Coke Diss"] as a result. I wasn't pleased with that aspect of it. Though a lot of the songs I was pleased with, and the majority of the people who listened to it liked it, so I guess I'm happy. I just look at this as a mixtape because #1 I'm using other people's beats, which I won't be doing on the next album, and because, the Patton people knew, but I wasn't really established at LHS yet, nobody really knew what kind of shit I was going to put out, so I figured I'd drop somethin and hand it out for free to let people know what's up.

Tripod: How soon can we be expecting the next album?

ILLigitt: Not for a while actually. I'm saving up my money to get a real studio-quality mic, and I'm full on gonna turn my bedroom into a total studio, moving the bed upstairs and everything. So the environment will be a lot more professional down here and there's gonna be some quality recording done. Not to mention the fact that I'm going to be making my own beats this time around. I gotta save up for a lot of the right equipment though, so expect the next album in, probably 2004, early 2005 at the very latest.

Tripod: Will you be putting out any other songs in the mean time?

ILLigitt: Definately, I've already made about 7 other songs, 5 of which are available on my soundclick site. Me and Tha DiVa did a track together, I think that came out pretty well, she's one of the few talented femcees I've heard and I got a feeling she's gonna blow up huge one day [not like, huge as in, a fat faggot like E-40, she's gonna blow up huge in the rap scene]. I'm working on about 3 more songs right now called "Underground Radio," "I Got Mine," and another one which is currently untitled. I got good feelings about these songs too. They all got real good meanings behind them and I think the real hip-hop heads will feel them and feel what I'm talkin about.

Tripod: How about the song "Explicit"? How did you guys hook up to do that song? What were your expectations as to the feedback the song would get?

ILLigitt: "Explicit" is actually my favorite song off the album--by album I mean mixtape. As to how me and SK got around to doing the song, well, SK is one of my best friends, and we're both musicians, so naturally we were thinking about doing a song together. And we figured since I had an album coming out we could put it on there. Well we were in the process of thinking of ideas for the song, and one night he called me and said we should do a song about the war and the drama going on in the world right now. I'm a really liberal person, and really interested in the war, so naturally I agreed. About a month later we had our parts written, he came over to the studio (which was packed with people--probably in anticipation...I mean...the two best musicians in LV on the same track...jesus christ...what do you expect) and we layed down the track. As far as feedback goes. I honestly thought we were going to get a lot of shit for it because of the generally anti-war/anti-Bush lyrics in the song, but surprisingly, the majority of people liked the song. I actually have a poll going about what people's favorite song on the mixtape is, and "Explicit" has about double the votes of all the other songs combined.

Tripod: Well that's cool. You've got a song on there called "Go To Sleep (MTV)" which is a remake of the Eminem/DMX/Obie Trice song off the Cradle 2 The Grave soundtrack. How did that come about?

ILLigitt: Well it was actually a spur of the moment kind of idea. I was sittin there flippin channels, and all the sudden I see tons of star-struck little 13 year old girls screaming for artists who they wouldn't even care about if they weren't MTV-endorsed, and I immediately knew what song I was gonna do it to. I was gonna put MTV in it's place, to sleep. I'm sick of all these star-struck teenyboppers who don't know the first thing about hip-hop, praising Nelly because he's got a cool vocal style, and then I mention a real lyricist like Chino XL or Slug, and they're like "who?". Then I'll mention Canibus and they go "yeah he fuckin' sucks, Eminem whored that faggot" when they haven't even heard Canibus before, because if they did hear Canibus they would realize that he is a highly intelligent and amazing lyricist. 75% of the shit that's on the radio right now is garbage, and that's what it comes down to.

Tripod: I see. Well, that's about all the time I have. Is there anything else you want to say before we cut this short?

ILLigitt: Yeah. What's up everybody this is Sarcazm speakin aight, be on the lookout for my album Dead Ends in 2003--no I mean 2004--no I mean 2005--fuck it, only dead end I'm facin is my career, and that came out when it started.
