Aunt Alexandria was probably the most opinionated of them all. She even moved in with Atticus, Jem
and Scout so she could enforce her own viewpoints and rules on them. She didn't allow Scout to be friends with Walter Cunningham
because he was poor and his family was illiterate. In her opinion, this made him trash. She also didn't allow Scout to go
over to Calpurnia's house. She saw her as just the housemaid. It didn't occur to Aunt Alexandria that Calpurnia loved the
children and the children loved her. She was just another colored woman in Alexandria's eyes. This made Calpurnia trash. In
her opinion, fine folk were white, middle to upperclass people. That was that. It didn't matter what kind of person you are.
If you don't match her criteria, you're trash.
In my opinion, fine folk are people who care for and selflessly give to other people, especially
the less fortunate. They put the good of everyone before their own good. When you're one of the most talented, wealthy, recognized
and respected entertainers in the world and you give the majority of what you've earned to various charities around the world,
in addition to having orphanages and hospitals built in needy countries, that makes you fine folk. When you go on the Victory
tour with your brothers, the Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory world tours (which, combined, generated nearly a billion dollars;
all of which were the largest selling tours in history, each breaking its predecessor's record) and donate ALL of your proceeds
to making the world a better place, that makes you fine folk.
America very much so resembles Maycomb now days. Everyone is so prejudice and backwards in their
viewpoints. Bill Clinton cheating on his wife, oh he's trash. But George Bush breaking international law and being responsible
for thousands of innocent deaths, he's fine folk. The bone-crunching, neck-snapping, career-ending sport of football is considered
a healthy American sport. But Janet Jackson's breast being shown at the Superbowl, what a horrible thing! Let's investigate!!
What would you rather teach your kids, violence or sex? It seems to me most Americans say violence. America is the modern-day
Maycomb.
